Take a Lesson from the Ants

Hey you guys!  I hope you are all doing well.  I have been slightly busy, which is why I haven’t blogged in approximately 10 days.

Today we had a pretty interesting experience.  Once a year, around this time, there is a certain kind of ant that migrates (who knows where), and I always forget about it, until it happens again.  So today, right before I was about to cook supper, I notice these ants coming in the house.  There were thousands of them, and they were everywhere!

While Allana was trying to get a few close pictures of the ants, she stood in the wrong place and got bit by them.  They were really annoying, and we kept trying to get them out of the house by spraying ant spray at all the doors and windows.

While we were tying to get them out, it seemed like an impossible task, because there were so many!  I got to thinking about the passage in the Bible that talks about learning from the ants.

Proverbs 6:6-11 New Living Translation (NLT)

Take a lesson from the ants, you lazybones.
Learn from their ways and become wise!
Though they have no prince
or governor or ruler to make them work,
they labor hard all summer,
gathering food for the winter.
But you, lazybones, how long will you sleep?
When will you wake up?
10 A little extra sleep, a little more slumber,
a little folding of the hands to rest—
11 then poverty will pounce on you like a bandit;
scarcity will attack you like an armed robber.

I know it talks more about working like the ants, and not being lazy, but this can be used in the Spiritual sense, as well.  We need to work for the Lord, and not grow weary of doing what’s right.

We may feel like we’re walking  alone with God along the path of faith, but if we could only see from God’s point of view, we are a part of a large army who is working for the Lord.  To the enemy, we look like a countless number of warriors.

We work over-time, preparing for the harder seasons of life.  If we stop to rest, the enemy will pounce on us with discouragement, temptations, trials and tests.

We had poison to kill the ants, but the devil shoots fiery darts at us.  How do we stand against the attack?  Prepare ourselves Spiritually, and fight back by submitting to God and resisting the devil.  Put on the whole armor of God!  Keep our prayers and fasts going…they are our ammunition!

Ephesians 6:11-18 King James Version (KJV)

11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

This is kinda deep for it to come from an invasion of ants, I know.  It just felt like a good reminder to all: we are not alone, we are part of a greater army, and we need to prepare for Spiritual warfare.  We are in the last days, and while we migrate (evangelize) to different parts of the world, or even go to different places in our cities or towns, the devil is out to detain and destroy us.

Let us keep running the race set before us with patience and diligence, keeping our eyes on Jesus (our example), should we get faint or weary.

Hopefully this can serve as an encouragement to you, as it has to me.

As a side note, I’d like to tell you what’s been going on lately.  These past two weeks, the guys from our church have been working to put the roof on the church in Olanchito.

My dad, Bro. Bairon, and Bro. Leonel have been out in Ibans, building the parsonage for Bro. Bairon and Sis. Mavis to move into later this year.

My mom flew out yesterday to go see and help my grandparents.  Please keep my grandpa in your prayers; he had a knee surgery a few weeks back, and he still hasn’t healed up.  He is in a lot of pain, and he hasn’t made any real recovery.  Please pray for God to heal him and help him to recover quickly.  Also pray for my grandma, that God would give her strength and rest.

Meanwhile, I’ve been in charge at the house (while Allana is at work), and it’s been a different kind of experience.  It is also the reason I haven’t really been on here much.  Between school, cooking, and cleaning, I haven’t had much time for a blog post.  So appreciate this one! Lol. 😀 😉 😛

God Bless, and thank you for reading!
